Namibian government extends agricultural equipment deadline
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) has extended the deadline for farmers to apply for agricultural equipment to October 16, 2026. The extension follows an overwhelming response from farmers across all 14 regions, many of whom reported that the original September deadline provided insufficient time to complete applications.
Additionally, the government has allocated N$40 million to support the uptake of locally produced grain. This initiative, coordinated through the Ministry of Finance and the Agro-Marketing and Trade Agency (AMTA), aims to assist subsistence, small-scale, and medium-scale grain producers who have struggled to find buyers for their harvests from the previous season. Acting Executive Director Petrus Nangolo encouraged producers to contact AMTA to ensure their produce is sold.
