Naming trends in Poland show decline in traditional names

Recent data highlights shifting naming trends in Poland, where once-popular names are seeing a drastic decline in usage. The name Renata, which was highly prevalent in the 1970s and 1980s, was given to only 11 girls in 2025, despite nearly 190,000 women in the country bearing the name.

Similarly, the name Roberta has become exceptionally rare for women. Currently, only 237 women in Poland carry the name, with the last recorded instances occurring in 2022. While the female version is declining, its masculine counterpart remains more common. These trends reflect broader changes in how parents select names, moving away from traditional choices like Renata, Bożena, Jolanta, and Danuta.
