Namma Metro transports donor heart in 18 minutes in Bengaluru

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) facilitated the rapid transport of a donor heart across Bengaluru on Wednesday, October 14. The organ was moved via the Namma Metro to bypass heavy road congestion, traveling from Goraguntepalya station to Mantri Square Sampige Road station in approximately 18 minutes.

The transit supported a critical medical transfer between Sparsh Hospital in Yeshwanthpur and Apollo Hospital in Seshadripuram. BMRCL coordinated the arrangements to ensure the time-sensitive delivery was successful.

This incident is part of a broader trend of the metro network assisting in medical logistics. BMRCL reported having assisted in the transportation of six vital organs to date, including one liver, three hearts, and a pair of lungs.
