Namo Fazil claims attack by 15 fighters before UFC loss
Kurdish welterweight Namo Fazil claims he was attacked by a group of 15 Chechen fighters in his hotel room the day before his UFC Contender Series loss. Fazil, who lost to Kaik Brito via a third-round knockout on August 18 in Las Vegas, stated the confrontation occurred while he was in the middle of a weight cut.
According to Fazil, the group entered his room while he was wrapped in blankets. He alleged that one individual slapped him twice. Fazil noted that his coaches intervened to prevent a physical fight, as he had a scheduled bout the following day. He claimed the group fled once a scuffle broke out and police arrived at the hotel.
UFC CEO Dana White had previously alluded to an incident occurring at the fighter hotel but did not provide specific details. One of the individuals allegedly involved in the altercation is identified as Baisangur Susurkaev, a UFC middleweight prospect. Following Fazil’s loss, Susurkaev posted a social media image referencing the incident.
