Namontana police shooting kills one and injures four

A shooting involving police officers in Namontana has left one person dead and four others seriously injured. The victims were employees of La Gastronomie Pizza who were reportedly returning to their vehicle after finishing a night shift.

The National Police stated they responded to distress calls and encountered a group that appeared to be armed. According to their version, the group failed to obey orders to stop, leading to a confrontation. However, other reports suggest the officers may have been intoxicated or simply misidentified the workers as criminals.

Jean Christophe Fanomezantsoa Nomenjanahary is identified as the deceased employee. The Ministry of Public Security has stated it will not show favoritism regarding officer misconduct, and investigations are being conducted separately by both the National Police and the National Gendarmerie to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
