Nampula wins men's football title at 2026 School Sports Games

The Nampula province achieved significant success at the 2026 School Sports Games held in Inhambane, Mozambique. The delegation secured the championship title in men's 11-a-side football and finished as runners-up in the women's category of the same discipline.

Beyond football, Nampula's athletes performed well in several other sports. The province earned podium finishes in athletics, specifically in the 60-meter sprint and long jump, as well as second place in women's basketball and third place in handball. The volleyball team concluded the competition in fourth place.

William Tunzine, the Provincial Director of Education who led the delegation, expressed satisfaction with the results, noting that the province reached the semi-finals in all disciplines and the finals in three. Governor Eduardo Mariamo Abdula also praised the athletes for their discipline and teamwork, stating they had made the province proud.
