Namsan public shower facilities face repeated hygiene issues

Users of the free public shower facilities at Namsan in Seoul have caused repeated hygiene issues. For the second time this year, feces were left behind in a male shower booth, following a similar incident in January.

The Namsan shower facility was opened in October last year as part of a Seoul Metropolitan Government initiative to expand lifestyle-oriented sports facilities for runners and cyclists. While the facility has seen 12,862 users since its opening, officials view these incidents as the actions of a very small number of individuals.

The Jungbu Park Leisure Center has posted notices requesting users to follow basic order and etiquette, warning that repeated misconduct could lead to operational restrictions. Because the shower booths are designed as individual private spaces to protect user privacy, it is difficult to monitor activities inside the booths. Management staff have been responsible for cleaning the waste.
