Namwon Mayor initiates 20 billion won fiscal restructuring

Namwon Mayor Yang Chung-mo has announced a major administrative restructuring 80 days into his term. To address fiscal challenges, the city is cutting 20 billion won worth of existing projects to focus on long-term issues and securing external funding.

Key initiatives include resolving the monorail controversy through a dedicated citizen committee and addressing the Manin Park project by preserving the historical value of the old Namwon Station. The city aims to attract AI, bio, and smart logistics industries to create approximately 170 new jobs. Additionally, the administration is pursuing projects such as the establishment of a national medical school and the development of the Jirisan area for eco-tourism.
