Namyangju cafe worker assaulted with hot coffee
A man was arrested for throwing hot coffee at a part-time worker's face at a cafe in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. The incident occurred on the morning of the 17th of last month when the suspect, identified as 'A', became enraged after a misunderstanding regarding his drink order.
According to reports, the worker had placed the drinks on the pickup counter and called the customer's number three times. When the customer complained about not receiving his drink, a verbal altercation ensued. The suspect then threw the hot coffee at the employee, causing facial burns that required emergency medical treatment.
Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly returned to the cafe and made retaliatory threats against the owner, stating he would install a coffee vending machine in front of the shop to spite them. Recorded conversations suggest the suspect blamed the victim for the incident and downplayed the severity of the burns. The cafe owner has filed charges for defamation and obstruction of business, noting that three employees have since resigned due to fear of the suspect.
