Namyangju seeks toll reduction for Dalmoe IC on Pocheon-Hwado Expressway

Namyangju Mayor Choi Hyun-deok has met with the representative of the Pocheon-Hwado Expressway operator to request a reduction in tolls at the Dalmoe Interchange (IC). The request comes amid growing local dissatisfaction regarding the high cost of using this short section of the highway.

The Dalmoe IC to Hwado JCT segment is approximately 2.85 km long, yet the toll is set at 1,300 won. Residents have criticized the pricing, noting that the burden is disproportionately high relative to the distance traveled. This issue is compounded when drivers use multiple highways, as basic fees are charged for each route.

In response to a petition signed by 7,750 residents from Hwado-eup and Sudong-myeon, the city is pursuing two strategies. In the short term, Namyangju aims to expand the scope of existing discount systems for short-distance connecting sections. Long-term, the city has proposed improvements to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, including the introduction of a transfer system to prevent the duplicate charging of basic fees when transitioning between highways.
