Nanaimo and North Okanagan initiate municipal service updates

The City of Nanaimo is developing a new Seniors Emergency Preparedness Information Guide to assist older adults during disasters such as extreme heat, power outages, wildfires, earthquakes, and severe weather. The municipality is currently conducting a survey to ensure the guide is practical and accessible. Residents and caregivers can provide feedback through online, paper, email, or telephone methods until October 1, 2026.

Separately, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) has issued a request for proposals to find a contractor for the Greater Vernon and Lumby landfills. The successful bidder will manage operations, including waste hauling, compaction, and material stockpile management, for a seven-year term beginning January 1, 2027. Proposals for these landfill services are due by September 18.
