Pokémon card theft hobby shop break-in Nanaimo crime All Elite Cards & Games collectible theft

A thief stole approximately $6,000 worth of Pokémon cards during a rapid break-in at All Elite Cards & Games in Nanaimo. The incident occurred at 3:50 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, when an individual smashed through the glass front door of the shop on Bowen Road.

Security footage shows the culprit was inside the store for only one minute and 37 seconds. The thief, wearing a hoodie and a full-face mask, targeted eight sealed Pokémon box sets, including a Sword and Shield Evolving Skies booster box valued at roughly $3,361 and a Scarlet and Violet 151 elite trainer box valued at $726.

Store owner Allan Mah noted that the perpetrator appeared to have a specific plan and knowledge of the store layout. Following the theft, Mah has been staying at the shop to ensure security while installing bars on the windows and a more secure door to replace the temporary plywood covering.
