Nanaimo Updates Manufactured Home Park Tenant Protection Policy

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is revising its Manufactured Home Park Redevelopment Policy, first adopted in 2006, and renaming it the Manufactured Home Park Tenant Protection Policy. The update seeks to align the policy with current community needs, provincial regulations and best practices, and will apply when a rezoning application could force residents to relocate.

Key changes include stronger notice requirements, compensation provisions, relocation assistance and housing agreements that keep units affordable. The RDN is inviting residents, park owners and community members to review the draft and submit comments via an online survey by August 29, after which the board will consider the final version.
