Nanchang police detain two for food safety extortion at Mixue Bingcheng
Two individuals in Nanchang, China, have been criminally detained for suspected extortion involving food safety claims. Between August 8 and August 11, the suspects placed delivery orders at five Mixue Bingcheng locations. They allegedly tampered with the sealed drinks by tearing the seals and inserting hair and flies to create the appearance of foreign objects.
The suspects reportedly demanded compensation of 1,000 yuan per incident, citing food safety laws and refusing settlement offers such as refunds or coupons. After the store staff identified the fraudulent pattern, they alerted local police. The suspects were detained on August 14 on suspicion of extortion.
