Nancy Cartwright suggests The Simpsons could end with Season 40

Nancy Cartwright, the long-time voice of Bart Simpson, has suggested that ‘The Simpsons’ could potentially end with its 40th season. Speaking on Michael Rosenbaum’s ‘Inside of You’ podcast, Cartwright noted that the number 40 aligns with the current contract renewal period with Fox.

While Cartwright clarified that this is merely her personal opinion and not an official announcement, she emphasized her commitment to the series. She stated that she would be willing to continue ‘absolutely’ as long as the cast and crew are willing and able to do so.

The series, which debuted in 1989, is approaching its 38th season. Discussions regarding the show's longevity often consider the age of the veteran voice cast, including 82-year-old Harry Shearer. Despite the speculation, a second feature film is currently in production with a scheduled release in 2027.
