Nancy Guthrie abduction: hair DNA test yields no suspect link
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said forensic testing of a hair strand recovered from the Tucson-area home of 84‑year‑old Nancy Guthrie was completed and did not match any suspect. The DNA sample is a mixed profile from as many as four individuals, and investigators have been sending it to at least five or six laboratories nationwide, including the FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia. The case, which began when a masked man was captured on a Nest doorbell camera during the early hours of February 1, remains active, with the sheriff’s department and the FBI continuing to pursue leads. The Guthrie family, led by Savannah Guthrie, has offered a reward of more than $1 million for information.
The FBI previously released video of the masked intruder and a ransom note demanding payment in U.S. dollars or Bitcoin with a deadline of February 9. No arrests have been announced, and the hair evidence now appears to be the only biological clue in the ongoing kidnapping investigation.
