Nancy Guthrie disappearance: Investigation continues amid social media speculation

The investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues seven months after she was reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona. Guthrie, the mother of journalist Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on January 31, 2026.

Recent social media activity has focused on Tommaso Cioni, Guthrie’s son-in-law, who was the last person to drop her home following a family dinner. An unverified photograph circulating on X shows Cioni dining with an unidentified man, prompting questions from online investigators. However, the photograph’s origin, date, and location remain unconfirmed, and there is no evidence linking the second individual to the case.

While online speculation and certain media personalities have suggested Cioni might be involved, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has previously stated that Guthrie’s family members, including Cioni and Savannah Guthrie, have been cleared of any suspicion. Law enforcement continues to seek information regarding her whereabouts.
