Nancy Guthrie disappearance: Ransom notes released in Arizona kidnapping case

The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, continues as authorities and investigators navigate conflicting information. Guthrie was reported missing from her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Arizona on February 1. Authorities believe she was taken against her will.

In July, the sheriff’s office released ransom notes received in February to generate new leads. The first note, received by KOLD-TV, stated Guthrie was ‘safe but scared’ and demanded payment to ensure her release. A second, more grim message claimed Guthrie had ‘perished shortly after she was taken’ and was ‘buried in nature.’

Recent changes to Guthrie’s Facebook profile, including the privacy of her friends list and the removal of certain photographs, have sparked online speculation regarding a potential cover-up. However, there is no public evidence linking these social media adjustments to the official investigation being conducted by the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
