Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case intensifies as ex‑FBI agent predicts resolution by August

Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of "Today" co‑host Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home on Feb. 1, 2026 after an armed suspect was captured on a doorbell camera breaking in. Investigators recovered DNA and have a masked figure on video, while a series of ransom communications — including a note claiming she had died and a Bitcoin offer worth about $60,000 for a video of the abductor — have complicated the probe.

Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer told Men’s Journal she is "99 percent sure" the case will be solved, expecting significant movement by around Aug. 1. She described the investigation as "red hot," noting a large volume of evidence still being processed, and highlighted a reward exceeding $1.2 million. No arrests have yet been made.
