Nancy Guthrie disappearance: Authorities rule new ransom note not credible
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI Guthrie Task Force have ruled a newly surfaced ransom note in the Nancy Guthrie disappearance case as not credible. The announcement follows reports of a potential third ransom message, which authorities were investigating alongside social media claims.
Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC ‘Today’ show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her Tucson-area home on February 1. The investigation has been complicated by several previous false leads, including two ransom notes sent shortly after her disappearance—one demanding $4 million in cryptocurrency and another claiming she had died.
While investigators are reviewing social media comments related to the latest potential note, they have expressed skepticism regarding its validity. No suspects have been arrested, and the search for Guthrie continues nearly eight months after she was last seen.
