Nancy Guthrie, an 84‑year‑old Arizona resident and mother of NBC “Today” co‑anchor Savannah Guthrie, was abducted from her Tucson home on Feb. 1 2026. Within days, investigators received two ransom notes. The first demanded millions of dollars in Bitcoin for her return. A second note, sent to a Tucson television station, claimed she had died shortly after the abduction and said the kidnappers did not intend to kill her.

Savannah Guthrie has repeatedly appeared on air to plead for information, saying “we are in agony” and offering a $1 million family reward, while the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Office have added their own rewards of up to $100,000. Door‑bell footage released by authorities shows a masked, armed individual at the home, but the suspect remains unidentified. The FBI says the first note likely came from the kidnapper; the authenticity of the second note is still being examined. The investigation continues with DNA analysis and public tip lines, urging anyone with information to contact the FBI (1‑800‑CALL‑FBI).
