Nancy hosts 48th Livre sur la Place literary festival
The 48th edition of the Livre sur la Place festival will take place in Nancy, France, from September 11 to 13, 2026. The event will transform the Place de la Carrière and various city locations into a large-scale literary forum, featuring nearly 500 authors and illustrators through approximately 170 meetings, debates, and readings.
This edition features a symbolic co-presidency by Israeli historian and former ambassador Élie Barnavi and Palestinian writer and former UNESCO ambassador Elias Sanbar. Despite the ongoing conflict between their nations, the two men will participate in dialogues, including discussions with Irish writer Colum McCann.
In addition to literary discussions, the festival will address diverse themes such as geopolitics, memory, the environment, and the future of Europe. The event is organized by the City of Nancy and is free to the public.
