Nandankanan Zoo reports five rescued baby orangutans are stable

Five rescued baby orangutans, consisting of three males and two females, are in stable condition at the Nandankanan Zoological Park quarantine facility in Odisha. According to a health evaluation report released by Deputy Director Pradeep Mirase, the infants are showing normal feeding patterns and have undergone medical examinations, including thermal camera temperature screenings.

A specialized technical committee, including representatives from the Delhi Zoo and the Wildlife Institute of India, visited the enclosure to provide medical guidance. The experts recommended gradually increasing daily feed volumes, introducing solid foods, and administering antiparasitic medications to manage internal worm loads.

The five primates were originally discovered on the morning of September 9 near Badapali village in the Balasore Division of Odisha, prompting an investigation by the Forest Department into how the animals arrived in the area.
