Nando Moura convicted of insult against Felipe Neto
The 16th Criminal Chamber of São Paulo has convicted YouTuber and influencer Nando Moura for the crime of insult (injúria) against fellow influencer Felipe Neto. The court partially overturned a previous first-instance acquittal.
The ruling follows a legal complaint filed by Felipe Neto regarding dozens of posts and videos made by Moura on YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) throughout 2023. While the court maintained Moura's acquittal regarding defamation charges—ruling that criticisms concerning online casinos and internet forums fell under freedom of expression—it determined that specific insults crossed the line into personal attacks.
Terms identified in the case included “mentiroso” (liar), “covarde” (coward), “cretino” (cretin), “idiota” (idiot), and “cão dos infernos” (dog from hell). Moura was sentenced to five months of detention in an open regime; however, as a first-time offender, the sentence was converted into a fine of R$ 50,000 to be paid to a social welfare entity.
