Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival to be held in Osaka
The Naniwa Yodogawa Fireworks Festival is scheduled to take place on the evening of the 17th at the Yodogawa riverbed in Osaka. This year marks the second consecutive year the event has been held in autumn, a trend increasing in the Kansai region to avoid extreme summer heat and improve visibility due to lower humidity.
The festival features a dramatic program synchronized with music from artists such as B’z, Arashi, and Mrs. GREEN APPLE. The display includes various technical elements, such as drones, helicopters, and specialized pyrotechnics like ‘milk crowns’ and ‘kaleidoscope’ effects. TV Osaka will provide live coverage of the event.
While the shift to autumn offers practical benefits like heat mitigation, some commentators have noted the cultural impact. During a television segment, entertainer Junta Nakama expressed nostalgia for the traditional summer timing, noting that the seasonal shift changes the nature of the memories associated with the event, such as summer romances and student gatherings.
