Nanni Moretti awarded SIAE Andrea Purgatori Career Prize

The Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE) has named filmmaker Nanni Moretti as the recipient of the 2026 SIAE Andrea Purgatori Career Award. The award will be presented on September 6 during the Giornate degli Autori in Venice.

The recognition comes during the 50th anniversary of Moretti’s cinematic debut with ‘Io sono un autarchico’ in 1976. SIAE President Salvatore Nastasi cited Moretti’s extraordinary contribution to Italian culture and his ability to create a unique body of work that spans both national and international landscapes.

Moretti’s career includes several major international honors, such as the Silver Lion at Venice for ‘Sogni d’oro’, the Silver Bear at Berlin for ‘La messa è finita’, and the Palme d’Or at Cannes for ‘La stanza del figlio’. The award, named after journalist Andrea Purgatori, has previously been granted to figures such as Dario Argento, Luca Guadagnino, and Alice Rohrwacher.
