Nanny McPhee musical to premiere in London in 2027

A stage adaptation of the family comedy film Nanny McPhee is set to have its world premiere in London in summer 2027. The production will debut on the West End.

Academy Award winner Emma Thompson is part of the creative team, providing the book and co-writing the lyrics with singer-songwriter Gary Clark, who is also composing the music. The musical is based on the 2005 film, which was written by and starred Thompson, and is derived from the Nurse Matilda characters created by Christianna Brand and Edward Ardizzone.

The production features a high-profile creative team, including director Katy Rudd, choreographer Ellen Kane, and set and costume designer Rob Howell. The story will follow the magical nanny as she arrives to assist a widower with his seven unruly children.
