Nano One launches Canada DevCo for LFP cathode production

Nano One Materials Corp. has launched Canada DevCo, its first development company, to establish lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode production facilities in Canada. The company has initiated a site evaluation study to determine locations for a proposed production plant with an initial capacity of 25,000 tonnes per annum (ktpa), which could eventually expand to 100 ktpa.

The project is intended to serve the electric vehicle (EV), energy storage systems (ESS), and defense markets both domestically and internationally. The evaluation process will assess infrastructure, utility access, and permitting requirements. Nano One is also engaging with regional suppliers of lithium carbonate, phosphoric acid, and iron, as well as potential strategic partners and customers.

This initiative follows previous support from Natural Resources Canada, which awarded the company C$5 million to scale its proprietary One-Pot process for LFP cathode active materials. The company aims to build a regionally focused and resilient supply chain to meet increasing market demand.
