Nanping to host conference on Zhu Xi's philosophy and global civilization

The 5th Kaoting Forum, titled the Conference on Zhu Xi's Philosophy and Dialogue of Global Civilization, is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 18 in Nanping, Fujian Province. The event is co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the International Confucian Association (ICA), and the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Approximately 200 participants are expected to attend, including international scholars specializing in Confucianism, representatives from historical heritage cities, and descendants of the philosopher Zhu Xi. A major highlight of the conference will be the release of ‘The Great Dictionary of Zhu Xi’.

The forum will feature four parallel sub-forums addressing topics such as global governance, humanistic care in the digital era, and the preservation of cultural heritage. The conference aims to explore how Zhu Xi’s Song Dynasty Neo-Confucian philosophy can contribute to modern civilizational dialogue and social order, noting its historical influence across East and Southeast Asia.
