NANS seeks NEPC partnership to provide export training for students
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has proposed a partnership with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) to provide students with training in non-oil export and entrepreneurship. During a courtesy visit to the NEPC headquarters in Abuja, NANS Secretary-General Oladimeji Uthman Fodio emphasized that since youths make up over 60 percent of Nigeria’s population, they should be trained to participate in the export value chain to drive economic growth.
NANS has requested several specific initiatives, including the establishment of export hubs on campuses across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. These hubs would ideally feature NEPC staff to provide mentorship and practical skills to students. The association also proposed a national summit titled ‘Students Export & Entrepreneurship Initiative – From Campus to Global Market’ to focus on training, identification, development, connection, exposure, and skills.
