Nansana police detain two men after 10-year-old's recovery

Police in Nansana have detained two men, Matovu Benard, 20, and Ssemata Christopher, 30, following the recovery of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped for a Shs20 million ransom.

The incident reportedly began on October 4 in Senge, Wakiso District, when the child was taken from a family workshop. Investigations suggest that Matovu had been hired earlier that morning to wash a silver Subaru Impreza, but instead drove off with the vehicle and switched off his phone. He then allegedly traveled to Senge to abduct the child.

The boy was moved to Nsumbi village in Kyebando, where a demand for Shs20 million was made via a provided bank account. Following a police operation, both the child and the stolen vehicle were recovered. The suspects were reportedly rescued from a mob before being taken into custody at Nansana Police Station, where they remain as investigations continue.
