Nanshan High School hosts SEL education seminar

Nanshan High School and Taiwan Career Exploration (Taiwan SEL) recently held a specialized seminar on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) to address educational shifts in the age of artificial intelligence.

Professor Chen Hsueh-chih, Vice President of National Taiwan Normal University and Director of the Social Emotional Education and Development Research Center, led the session for over 200 educators. The seminar utilized perspectives from cognitive psychology and emotional research to help secondary schools integrate SEL into campus life. The goal is to guide students in developing self-regulation, empathy, and effective communication skills within a high-tech environment.

Taiwan Career Exploration emphasized that SEL is not an additional burden to the existing curriculum but a mindset that can be flexibly integrated into daily classroom management and subject teaching. As generative AI becomes more prevalent, the organization noted that educational focus is shifting from simple knowledge acquisition toward core competencies such as interpersonal communication, creativity, and problem-solving.
