Nao Matsushita to star in new medical drama ‘Analog Nurse’
Actress Nao Matsushita will star in the new TV Asahi medical drama ‘Analog Nurse: What is Digital!?’ (Analog Nurse ~Digital tte nannanda yo!?~), which is scheduled to premiere on October 22. The series serves as the culmination of a medical drama trilogy written by Miho Nakazono, following the success of ‘Doctor X’ and ‘The Travel Nurse’.
Matsushita reprises her role as Akari Nasuda, a freelance nurse who previously appeared as a guest character in the 2021 season of ‘Doctor X’. Set in a medical landscape rapidly undergoing digital transformation (DX) with AI diagnostics and electronic health records, the story follows Nasuda, a nurse who relies on her five senses and handwritten notes rather than digital tools. Known as a ‘Jomon Nurse’ by colleagues, she operates under the belief that ‘convenience makes people degenerate’ and insists on cash payments.
The production utilizes a ‘shared universe’ format, where the worlds of previous medical dramas intersect. Matsushita expressed both excitement and a sense of pressure regarding the role, noting that the character’s strength lies in trusting only what she can see, touch, and feel in high-stakes medical environments.
