Nao Takizawa reflects on career-high season with Saitama Seibu Lions
Nao Takizawa, a second baseman and shortstop for the Saitama Seibu Lions, has completed a breakout fifth season in professional baseball. Takizawa appeared in 123 games, reaching the required number of plate appearances for the first time in his career.
He achieved career-high statistics this season, recording a batting average of .276 (9th in the Pacific League) and an on-base percentage of .350 (6th in the league). Additionally, he led the league in sacrifice bunts with 27. His performance contributed to the team finishing second in the Pacific League and advancing to the Climax Series.
Reflecting on his growth, Takizawa noted improvements in his batting approach and physical strength, which led to increased ball and swing speeds. While expressing regret over the team's inability to win the championship and his own struggles with stamina during the latter half of the season, he remains focused on improving his defensive play and maintaining health for his sixth professional season.
