Nao Victoria replica docks in Guernsey

A full-scale replica of the Nao Victoria, the first ship to successfully circumnavigate the globe, has docked in Guernsey. The vessel is part of a project by the Nao Victoria Foundation, a non-profit organization that builds historical ship copies.

The original Nao Victoria completed its historic voyage between 1519 and 1522, departing from Seville under the command of Juan Sebastian Elcano. Of the five ships and approximately 265 crew members that began the expedition, only the Victoria and 18 crew members returned to Spain.

The replica will remain docked at Albert Pier until September 20, offering visitors the opportunity to board and view authentic recreations of life on board. Following its stay in Guernsey, the ship is scheduled to sail to France before returning to Spain.
