Final Fantasy VII Revelation announced for Spring 2027 with level 99 cap and simultaneous multi‑platform release

Square Enix unveiled the final installment of its Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, slated for a spring 2027 launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2. Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the game will bring the classic level‑99 cap back and feature extensive end‑game content, including optional Weapon bosses and new challenges such as the Highwind airship that allows unrestricted world flight.

Development of Revelation was completed in three years, considerably faster than typical AAA cycles, because 95 % of the team from the previous entry Rebirth stayed on the project. Hamaguchi said the same core group began design work a year before Rebirth shipped, avoiding the usual disband‑and‑re‑assemble process. He also noted that only a handful of developers knew the subtitle “Revelation” before its public reveal; most learned it alongside the audience.

Post‑launch, Square Enix is open to DLC that could explore earlier spin‑off stories such as Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core. Hamaguchi has also confirmed he is working on a new, as‑yet‑unnamed project at Square Enix, indicating continued focus on narrative‑driven titles within the franchise.
