Naoki Hamaguchi says Final Fantasy VII Revelation will end story in main game, no DLC required
Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the narrative of Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be fully resolved within the main game, eliminating the need for any story‑driving DLC. He explained that any future downloadable content would be limited to character‑focused spin‑offs rather than continuing the core plot, stating, “The story will be concluded within the main game.”
Hamaguchi also urged the industry to preserve physical game releases, warning that Sony’s plan to cease production of new disc‑based games by January 2028 could erode gaming culture. The final installment of the FFVII remake trilogy is slated for a spring 2027 launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S, and will be offered in physical formats despite the broader shift toward digital distribution.
