Naomi Osaka says fashion now tops tennis at Washington WTA 500

Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka told the press at the start of the WTA 500 tournament in Washington that she is concentrating more on fashion than on her sport, adding that "people now know me more for fashion than tennis". She noted that her recent results include reaching the final in Bad Homburg, a quarter‑final appearance at Wimbledon and a return to competition after a brief injury lay‑off.

Osaka, coached by Polish trainer Tomasz Wiktorowski, faced American Ashlyn Krueger in the second round of the Washington event. Osaka won the match in straight sets, 6‑3 6‑3, after Krueger retired with a right‑foot injury. The victory kept Osaka on schedule in the tournament while she continues to pursue her fashion interests alongside her tennis career.
