Naomi Watts reflects on career struggles and David Lynch

At the Zurich Film Festival, British actress Naomi Watts shared reflections on her career struggles and the pivotal role director David Lynch played in her professional development. Watts described a decade of difficulty prior to working with Lynch, noting that she faced financial instability and felt pressured to alter her personality to meet industry expectations.

Watts recounted how she felt forced to remodel herself to appear more funny or sexy based on critical feedback, which led to her feeling disconnected from her true self. She credited Lynch as a genius who was able to see past the persona she had constructed and helped her reach her authentic self as a performer.
