Naomi Watts to receive Donostia Award at San Sebastián Film Festival

Actress Naomi Watts will be honored with the Donostia Award at the San Sebastián International Film Festival. The ceremony is scheduled for September 19, where the two-time Oscar nominee will receive the award at the Kursaal.

Following the ceremony, Watts is set to present her new film, ‘The Housewife’, which premiered earlier this month at the Toronto International Film Festival. The drama, set in 1964 New York, follows a journalist investigating a suspected Nazi officer and features a cast including Tye Sheridan, Luke Evans, and Michael Imperioli.

Watts is widely recognized for her role in J. A. Bayona’s ‘The Impossible’, a film about the 2004 tsunami that earned her an Academy Award nomination. She previously noted that she initially hesitated to take the role due to the sensitivity of the tragedy and her personal fear of water, but ultimately accepted after admiring Bayona’s directorial work.
