Naomi Watts to star in 1960s thriller ‘The Housewife’

Actress Naomi Watts is taking on a challenging new role in the 1960s-set thriller ‘The Housewife’, a film based on a true story. Watts portrays Hermine, a woman whose secret Nazi past is uncovered when a journalist begins investigating her husband, Russell, played by Luke Wilson.

Watts described the role as her ‘villain era’, noting the difficulty of playing a character who remains unrepentant until the end. She expressed that while the project caused her significant fear, she felt it was a necessary challenge to explore how hate can exist close to society. In discussing her research and the character, Watts remarked that the human mind makes people the ‘most dangerous animal’ due to the capacity for sophisticated subjugation.
