Actress Naomi Watts disclosed that she provides the voice for the artificial‑intelligence companion E.V. in the Marvel‑Sony release Spider‑Man: Brand New Day. The role marks her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reunites her with Tom Holland, who returns as Peter Parker, and director Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked with Watts on The Glass Castle.

Watts announced the secret cameo on Instagram, sharing a studio photo and noting the film’s “historic opening weekend.” Spider‑Man: Brand New Day opened on 31 July 2026 and set a new domestic box‑office record with a $360 million debut, surpassing the previous record held by Avengers: Endgame. The AI assistant E.V. supports Parker by monitoring his vitals, web‑shooters and providing tactical data during combat.

The casting also recalls Watts’s Oscar‑nominated performance as Maria Bennett in The Impossible (2012), where she played Holland’s on‑screen mother, and her earlier collaboration with Cretton on The Glass Castle (2017).
