Nadaka Yoshinari retains ONE Muay Thai title with TKO victory
Nadaka Yoshinari successfully defended his ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE SAMURAI 4 in Tokyo, defeating challenger Rifdean Masdor via second-round TKO. The victory extends Yoshinari’s winning streak to 43 consecutive bouts and earned him a US$100,000 performance bonus.
The match was preceded by complications when Masdor failed to pass the hydration test within the required timeframe. While the fight proceeded as a five-round world title match, the title could only change hands if the champion lost; because Masdor failed the initial test, the stakes were modified.
Following the loss, Masdor issued an apology to ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong, explaining that his preparation was hindered by a lack of professional support. Masdor revealed he arrived in Japan with only his parents and a friend, stating he was unable to contact his training team in Thailand. He clarified that while he underwent intensive training, technical issues prevented his gym staff from accompanying him to Japan, leading to an inexperienced support crew that he felt appeared unprofessional during the event.
