Naoussa bridge project to be funded by Ministry of Interior

The Greek Ministry of Interior has officially announced funding for the construction of a new bridge over the Arapiitsa River near the Naoussa Hospital. The announcement was made by Deputy Minister Vasilis-Petros Spanakis during a visit to the Imathia region.

During meetings with Naoussa Mayor Nikos Koutsogiannis, discussions also focused on the ‘Nima’ development plan. This holistic project aims to restore and repurpose the former ‘Barvaresos’ industrial complex to serve as a hub for residential, educational, and entrepreneurial activities, including housing for digital nomads.

Additionally, plans were discussed regarding the establishment of a regional branch of the National Centre for Research and Technological Development (EKETA) at the former ‘Longou-Tourpali’ factory. This facility is expected to employ between 60 and 80 researchers over five years, with €2.1 million allocated for energy upgrades to create a nearly energy-autonomous building.
