NAOWA starts two‑month skills training for 100 women, youths in Benin City

The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) 4 Brigade Chapter, together with Ocean Wave Group, inaugurated a two‑month skills acquisition programme for 100 women and youths living in the Ekehuan Military Cantonment, Benin City, Edo State. The training, which began on 13 July 2026 at the NAOWA Skills Acquisition Centre, offers courses in advanced tailoring and crafts, catering, hairdressing, information and communication technology, photography and videography, event decoration and cosmetology.

Organisers said the aim is to equip participants with market‑ready skills that foster self‑employment, entrepreneurship and economic independence for military families. Ocean Wave Group President Peter Omoh Dunia, represented by Hon. Abibat Yakubu, and NAOWA zonal coordinator Mrs. Mariam Aina Balogun highlighted the programme’s focus on reducing unemployment and improving the welfare of troops’ spouses and children. Brigade commander Brig‑Gen Ahmed Balogun commended the partnership for creating an enabling environment for the initiative.
