Napa County wildfire burns 70 acres near Lake Berryessa

The Steele Fire, a wildfire in Napa County, grew to approximately 70 acres within an hour of its discovery on Wednesday morning. The blaze began near the 9400 block of Steele Canyon Road and has been burning in steep terrain near the south end of Lake Berryessa.

An evacuation warning has been issued for the area east of Steele Canyon Road, west of Wragg Canyon Road, and north of Highway 128. The fire is burning near the Steele Canyon Resort, a campground featuring boat launches on Lake Berryessa, and is reportedly threatening at least one structure.

Cal Fire reported that progress is being made on both flanks of the fire. This incident follows several other recent wildfires in the Napa County area, including the Hardin Fire in July and the Head Fire in late June.
