Naples sees economic boost from America's Cup and advances Euro 2032 bid
The preliminary regattas of the America's Cup in Naples have concluded with significant economic and social impacts. Local business representatives reported an influx of approximately 900,000 tourists and an economic impact of roughly 230 million euros. The event also spurred a 17.3% increase in sailing federation memberships in the Campania region within a single week, particularly among youth.
Following the event's success, there is a growing public movement to keep the temporary platforms installed on the Naples seafront as permanent public assets. Additionally, the America's Cup organizers have officially released the 2027 calendar, confirming that the Louis Vuitton Cup will begin on May 22, 2027, with the main Match scheduled for July 10.
In parallel, Naples is advancing its bid to host Euro 2032. Local officials stated that the project includes upgrading the Stadio Maradona to be more sustainable and accessible, utilizing photovoltaic energy to create a greener facility. The city is also exploring the restoration of the Mario Argento to support local basketball interests.
