Naples and Salerno airports undergo major infrastructure shifts

Naples Capodichino Airport is set to undergo a major modernization and redevelopment program involving investments exceeding 250 million euros. Approximately 230 million euros of this funding will come from private resources. A masterplan for the facility is being presented, alongside a protocol between Gesac and the Naples Association of Building Contractors (Acen) to establish principles of legality, security, transparency, and sustainability for upcoming public tenders.

Due to the temporary closure of Naples Capodichino for these works, the Costa d’Amalfi Airport in Salerno will absorb a significant portion of the diverted air traffic. As part of this strategic shift, ITA Airways will launch a new route between Salerno (QSR) and Milan Linate (LIN), providing ten weekly connections to support regional connectivity during the Naples airport upgrades.
