Napoli: Five reported after group assault with chains and brass knuckles

In the Colli Aminei district of Naples, a group of approximately eight individuals launched a violent nighttime assault against two young men on scooters. The attackers reportedly used chains and brass knuckles to strike the victims, allegedly in retaliation for a verbal provocation.

During the incident, an off-duty police officer intervened to stop one of the fleeing attackers, resulting in the officer sustaining injuries to his arms. The two primary victims also suffered injuries that are expected to require approximately 15 days of recovery.

Following an investigation involving dashcam footage and witness testimony from the off-duty officer, the Carabinieri of the Capodimonte station have identified and reported five individuals involved, including one minor. The suspects face charges of aggravated personal injury, property damage to the victims' scooters, and resistance to a public official. Regional Councilor Ciro Buonajuto condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for increased educational and social investments to combat youth violence.
