Naples court acquits defendants in Contini clan money laundering case
The Court of Naples has acquitted all defendants in a money laundering investigation linked to the Contini clan. The ruling, presided over by Judge Maurizio Conte, stated that the evidence provided was superficial and failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the illicit origin of capital or the intent to evade prevention measures.
Among those acquitted was Guido Albano, currently a deputy commissioner, who was previously an inspector under house arrest. He had been accused of acting as a ‘hidden partner’ in a business to facilitate fictitious ownership and evade mafia prevention measures. The court concluded that the facts did not exist due to a lack of sufficient objective and subjective elements to support the charges.
